Make out (1)
To get a good deal.

To have difficulty understanding what someone said or wrote.
يَتَمَكَّن مِن فَهْم / يَسْتَطِيع تَمْيِيز
He was talking so fast, I could not make out what he was saying.

To write a check.
يُحَرِّر (شيكًا)
She told me to make out the check to her business.
Make up (1)
To do something that you didn't do on a previous day.
يُعَوِّض / يَقْضِي ما فَاتَ
I missed the history exam because I was sick, so I had to make it up when I got better.
Make up (2)
To lie.
يَخْتَلِق / يَنْسِج
She made up the whole story about having her purse stolen so her mom wouldn't find out that she lost the money.
Make up (3)
To become friends again after an argument.
يَتَصَالَح / يَتَهادَن
We made up after not speaking to each other for 1 month.

To show your gratitude to somebody that has helped you by doing something nice for them.

After I stayed up late many nights tutoring him in Spanish, he made it up to me by fixing my car.
