Put down (1)
To insult someone.
يُحَقِّر / يُهَيِّن / يَحْطُّ مِن قَدْر

To stop holding something or someone.
يَضَع / يُنْزِل
I had to put the groceries down before I could answer the door.
Put down (3)
To humanely kill an animal with a terminal illness.
يَقْتُلُ حَيَوانًا بِطَرِيقَةٍ رَحِيمَة
I had the dog put down at the vet to end its suffering.
Put up (1)
To tolerate someone or something.
يَتَحَمَّل / يَصْبِر
I'm not happy with the situation at work, but I'll put up with it until I get transferred to another office.
Put up (2)
To process and preserve vegetables or fruit in jars.
يُعَلِّب / يَحْفَظُ في عُلَب
My tomato crop was abundant this year and I was able to put up 10 dozen jars.

To display something, such as decorations or a notice.

To tell someone something that isn't true.

To apply something, such as clothing or makeup.
يَرْتَدِي / يَضَع
Some women won't leave their home without putting on their makeup first.
