phrasal verbs : nod off




"tuck in 1" means to place the bottom of the shirt you are wearing into your pants or skirt

  • My mother always made me tuck in my shirt before I went to school.

"tuck in 2" means to pull the blankets up to someone's chin who is already in bed, and say good night and sweet dreams.

  • My mother tucked me in every night before I fell asleep.

"clean out 1" means to not have money either because it was stolen by someone or you gave it to someone
 لا يتبقى لك مال لأنك أنفقته كله أو سلب منك من طرف شخص أخر
  • I'm cleaned out because i had to take my kids shopping for new clothes.
  • Someone broke into our store and cleaned out our cash register.

"clean out 2" means to organize something
يرتب المكان  بإزالة الأشياء الغير مرغوب فيها  من غرفة، داخل السيارة، كراج إلخ
  • I cleaned out the refrigerator and threw away all the almost empty jars of condiments.

"clean up 1" means to organize something
 يرتب مكان فوضوي أو ينظف مكان متسخ
  • I can't go to the mall until I clean up my room.

"clean up 2" means to acquire money
 يربح المال
  • I really cleaned up at the casino today.

"rush out" means to leave a place quickly
 يغادر المكان مسرعا
  • When he realized he didn't have his cell phone, he rushed out to look for it.

"rush back" means to return in hurry
 يرجع أو يعود سريعا
  • I'll pick up some Chinese food for us and rush back before it gets cold.

"rush into" means to make a decision without giving it enough thought
 تتسرع بالقيام بشيئ ما بدون تفكير
  • She told him that she couldn't rush into marrying him because she felt she didn't know him well enough yet.

"nod off" means for someone to fall asleep
 يغلبه النعاس
  • I always nod off in my linguistics class because it's my least favorite subject.

"leave out 1" means to not include something
 يُغْفِل أو يترك أو لا  يَذْكُر  سهوا
  • Did everyone get a piece of cake? I don't want to leave anyone out.

"leave out 2"  means to put something in an obvious place
 يترك شيئ ما في مكان معين
  • Leave out the spare car key so I remember to take it with me.

"gross out"  means for someone to have a negative reaction to something that either smells bad or looks bad.
يصيبه بالإشمئزاز
  •  I was grossed out when I saw my friend put his finger in his nose and then with the same hand picked up his sandwich and ate it.
