"pull the plug" means to end something because it is no longer benefiting you.
   ينهي أو يوقف شيئ ما غالبا لسبب معين.

"look on the bright side" means to try to see the good in a bad situation

  • Having a positive attitude and looking on the bright side can help to endure almost anything.

"buy that" means something is believable     أن تصدق شيئ ما
  • I didn't buy that story she told me about being on a TV show when she was a kid.

"went right over my head" means to not understand something    لا تستطيع إستيعاب شيئ ما
  • The calculus equation went right over my head.

"right off the bat" means for something to immediately happen  من البداية، فورا
  • My friend got a new car and right off the bat, someone dented it in a parking lot the same day.
