Beat someone to it

سَبَقَـهُ إِلى الشَّيْءِ/الأمرِ: تَقَدَّمَهُ إلَيْهِ، وصَلَ إِلَيْهِ قَبْلَهُ، بادَرَ إلَيْهِ قَبلَهُ.

To do something before someone else does it; to accomplish a task or action more quickly than another person.

She wanted to propose the idea, but he beat her to it by bringing it up during the meeting.
