To be ruthless or uncompromising in dealing with a situation or opponent; to show no mercy.

During the debate, the candidate took no prisoners, attacking his opponent's policies without hesitation or compromise. When it comes to discipline, some parents take no prisoners. They enforce rules strictly and expect complete obedience from their children.
